FriendshipWorks

Description of resource: FriendshipWorks is a nonprofit organization that exists to decrease the social isolation, enhance the quality of life, and promote the dignity of elders and disabled people in the Greater Boston area through the dedicated efforts of a trained network of volunteers who provide friendship, assistance and education. FriendshipWorks arranges one-to-one friendly visitors, medical escorts for frail elders who would have difficulty traveling alone, one-time assistance for a variety of requests, pet pal visits by owners with their dogs to nursing home residents, and health access workshops for groups of elders and/or disabled people.
